Grace Poe in Quezon: All smiles post-SC ruling
After a nervewracking week, Grace Poe is back on the campaign trail

After a nervewracking moment pending the decision of the Supreme Court on her disqualification cases, presidential aspirant Grace Poe is back on the road, this time heading to Quezon province.

Camille Elemia reports.

CAMILLE ELEMIA, REPORTING: A happy Grace Poe does the rounds of Quezon province, with nearly 1.2 million voters, sharing her recent victory with residents.

It’s a  day after the Supreme Court allowed her to run for president and she’s all smiles.

Poe is here with her senate slate and allies from the Nationalist People’s Coalition.

Now that her biggest hurdle is over, Poe admits politicians from other political parties are shifting allegiance to her. Some, she says, have long expressed their desire to do so.

So tingnan na lang natin, I think in the coming days, mayroon naman. Hindi naman namin sinasabing napakarami o ano, basta mayroon.

(Of course, we understand the situation of local candidates, and the rest. They had apprehensions supporting a candidate with a pending case. But they told us before that once the SC case is resolved, they will come out to support. So let’s see in the coming days there will be more. We’re not saying that there’s a lot, but there are, definitely.)

The senator vows to improve the agriculture sector, one of the main economic drivers in the province.

Poe hits Liberal Party member and Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala, a native of the province.

(Agriculture is a sector we think has been neglected even if the Secretary is from here, because growing this has to be carefully organized. We will increase budget if we could, and irrigation should be free.)

After the SC decision, Poe says she can only think of the responsibilities of the campaign ahead.

In 2004, FPJ overwhelmingly won against former President Gloria Arroyo in the province.

It was the same for Poe in 2013, when she topped the senatorial race here.
But other politicians have had victories here too.

It was a close fight between Mar Roxas and Jejomar Binay in 2010, with Binay emerging as the victor.

Poe allies in the NPC believe they will enjoy a strong showing in the province.
It’s a sweet ending to a a nervewracking week, so much like that part in a movie where the hero’s luck has changed.
