Miriam Santiago: Back on the campaign trail, back with pick-up lines

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – Presidential candidate Miriam Defensor Santiago, who had not been too active on the campaign trail, was in her element on Saturday, April 16, in Baguio City.

She spoke at a university, undoubtedly where her market votes are, and made a connection the way she’s best done with students: through pick-up lines.

Here are the 4 so-called #MiriamHugotLines that Santiago delivered to a jampacked St Louis University auditorium:

“Ang pagmamahal ko sa iyo ay nasa kabilang classroom. Ibang klase talaga.” (My love for you is in the other classroom. You’re in a different class.)

“Geometry ba ang favorite subject mo? Kasi kahit anong angle, ang cute mo.” (Is geometry your favorite subject? Because you’re cute in any angle.)

“Magaling ka ba sa math? Ikaw kasi ang sagot sa equation ng buhay ko.” (Are you good in math? Because you’re the answer to the equation of my life.)

“Mali raw ang spelling ko ng happiness. Kasi imbes na simula sa H, ang happiness starts with U. Pero tama raw ang spelling ko ng universe. It begins with U and I.”

(I was told I misspelled happiness. Because instead of starting with H, happiness starts with U. But my spelling of universe is correct. It begins with U and I.)

The St Louis event was only the 4th time Santiago joined her running mate, Ferdinand Marcos Jr, on the campaign trail since their proclamation rally.

They kicked off their campaign also at a university, the Mariano Marcos State University, in Batac, Ilocos Norte, hometown of her vice presidential bet.
