Rodrigo Duterte casts his vote

MANILA, Philippines – Presidential bet and survey front-runner Rodrigo Duterte cast his vote a little past 2 pm on Monday, May 9.

Duterte was accompanied by his common-law wife Cieleto “Honeylet” Avanceña. Both of them donned their campaign color red.

Duterte on Monday told reporters he would not be monitoring the poll count and will instead shield himself from the post-elections noise.

Dubbed as the “Trump of the East”, Duterte as a political character has drawn international bewilderment due to his mass appeal in spite of his remarks on rape, association with mass killings of suspected criminals, and profanity-laden speeches.

The Davao city mayor is the last of the presidential candidates to cast his vote today. Rappler reporter Pia Ranada earlier wrote that the popular mayor is usually late “90% of the time“.
