Behind the scenes, many celebrity watchers are disappointed that Mommy D, Sharon Cuneta, and Vilma Santos did not come to the ceremony

MANILA, Philippines – No TRO came from the Supreme Court, despite the pleading of the candidate who was right outside the winning circle. And so Thursday afternoon, May 19, the 12 newly-elected senators were proclaimed the National Board of Canvassers.

Except for reelectionist Vicente Sotto III and returning senator Panfilo Lacson, all the winners came to receive their confirmation certificates. The mood was festive at the Philippine International Convention Center as the newest batch of lawmakers arrived one after another with their familes.

While many celebrity watchers were dissapointed that Mommy D, Sharon Cuneta, and Vilma Santos did not come to the ceremony, they were still visibly elated to celebrate, officially, their own candidates’ victory.

Here are some of the sweet, happy, and candid moments during the senatorial proclamation:

SOIREE, SORT OF. Newly-elected senators (from left) Manny Pacquiao, Leila de Lima, Joel Villanueva, and Miguel Zubiri, chat before the start of the proclamation. Senate President Franklin (center), who has been reelected, rests as his wife attends to him.

RESERVED. The seat assigned to reelected Senator Vicente Sotto III, who did not attend the proclamation.

'AND THE WINNER IS…' Election commissioners laugh as Commissioner Christian Lim does a Michael Buffer in reading boxing champ Manny Pacquiao’s proclamation certificate.

PHOTO BOMBER. The media jeer at Senate President Franklin Drilon twice for obstructing their frame as he takes photos of his newly proclaimed colleagues.

PEOPLE'S CHOICE. Everywhere Pacquiao goes, the crowd follows, even to the restroom, not missing an opportunity to have a photo with him .

AND MORE SELFIES. Drilon patiently waits for Pacquiao to take his seat before starting his valedictory speech.

FAMILY AFFAIR. The Zubiris get comfortable as they wait for the father Miguel to finish his interview.

LOOKING FORWARD. They have 6 years to prove they earned their seats.
