Typhoon Goring out of PAR Friday afternoon

MANILA, Philippines – Typhoon Goring entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday afternoon, July 23, but won’t be staying for long. 

Goring will not have any direct effect on the country and will leave PAR on Friday afternoon, July 24, PAGASA weather forecaster Glaiza Escullar told Rappler in a phone interview.

As of 4 pm, the eye of the typhoon was located at 1,390 km east northeast of Basco, Batanes. It has maximum sustained winds of 145 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 180 km/h. 

Goring is moving west in direction at a speed of 15 km/h.

Meanwhile, the low pressure area earlier spotted by PAGASA is now at 190 km northeast of Casiguran, Aurora. 

Cagayan Valley and the province of Aurora will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours. 

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms.

Coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate as light to moderate winds blow from the northeast to southeast over Northern Luzon and Central Luzon, and from the southwest to west over the rest of the country.
