‘Jenny’ now a typhoon

MANILA, Philippines – Severe tropical storm Jenny (international codename Dujuan) has been upgraded into a typhoon on Friday afternoon, September 25.

As of 4 pm Friday, state weather bureau PAGASA located the eye of Typhoon Jenny at 1,010 km east of Basco, Batanes.

The typhoon now has maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (km/h) near the center and gustiness of up to 150 km/h. It is moving northwest at 9 km/h.

A southwest monsoon is affecting Visayas and Mindanao. Palawan, Western Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula will experience monsoon rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. 

The following areas will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms:

• Calabarzon
• Mimaropa
• Bicol Region
• rest of Visayas and Mindanao

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated thunderstorms.

Coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough as moderate to strong winds blow from the northwest to west over Luzon, and from the southwest over Visayas and Mindanao.
