Lando: 6 north Luzon provinces under signal no. 2

MANILA, Philippines – Several areas in northern Luzon continue to be under storm signals as Severe Tropical Storm Lando (Koppu) continues to make its way through the region Tuesday, October 20.

As of 4 am Tuesday, Lando’s center was located 130 km northwest of Laoag City, with maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 12 km/h.

These areas are under public storm warning signal number 2:

• Ilocos Norte
• Ilocos Sur
• Apayao
• Abra
• Batanes
• Northern Cagayan including the Calayan and Babuyan islands

Meanwhile, these areas are under signal number 1:

• La Union
• Pangasinan
• Benguet
• Nueva Vizcaya
• Ifugao
• Mountain Province
• Kalinga
• Isabela
• The rest of Cagayan

Storm warning signals elsewhere have been lowered.

The storm continues with its slow pace through the region, moving northeast at a speed of 5 km/h.

It is forecast to stay within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) until the weekend.
