Tropical Depression Lando weakens into low pressure area

MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Depression Lando (international codename Koppu) has weakened into a low pressure area (LPA) on Wednesday afternoon, October 21, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

As of 4 pm Wednesday, the LPA was located at 120 km southeast of Basco, Batanes. All public storm warning signals are now lifted, according to PAGASA.

But the LPA is still expected to bring light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley. Likewise, fisher folk are still advised not to venture out over the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon. 

Meanwhile, a tail-end of a cold front is affecting the extreme northern Luzon. Ilocos, Cordillera, and Cagayan Valley will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms in the next 24 hours.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds will blow from the northwest to southwest over Luzon, causing moderate to rough seas. Elsewhere, coastal seas will be slight to moderate as light to moderate winds blow from the south to southwest.
