MANILA, Philippines – The low pressure area (LPA) east of Baler, Aurora already dissipated on Monday morning, August 22, but another LPA is enhancing the southwest monsoon.

In its bulletin issued 5 pm on Monday, state weather bureau PAGASA said the new LPA is 180 kilometers southwest of Sangley, Cavite.

The southwest monsoon, meanwhile, will affect the western parts of southern Luzon and of the Visayas on Tuesday, August 23.

Light to moderate rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected in Western Visayas, as well as in the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Mindoro, Palawan, and Negros Occidental.

The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will have just isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.

PAGASA also said coastal waters throughout the country will be moderate to rough, with moderate to strong winds. – Rappler.com
