MANILA, Philippines - A low pressure area (LPA) was spotted east of Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Friday, January 25.

In its 5pm bulletin, the state weather bureau said that the LPA was estimated at 840 km/h, and is expected to bring moderate to heavy rain in Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga.

Affected regions are warned of possible flashfloods and landslides.

In an earlier weather bulletin, Pagasa has warned residents of Davao City to brace for rain showers and thunderstorms, as 15 villages remain under a state of calamity after a major river overflowed and caused flooding.

The remaining parts of the country, on the other hand, will also experience light rains, partly due to the northeast monsoon affecting Luzon. - Rappler.com
