MANILA, Philippines (4th Update) - After a bout of heavy rain across Metro Manila due to the northeast monsoon, afternoon classes were suspended in certain areas in the metro.
A strong downpour occured at around 8 am to 11 am in Metro Manila on Friday, February 22, forcing localities and schools to send their students back home in the middle of the day.

Since no storm signals have been hoisted yet, suspension of classes is at the discretion of local government units and the management of private schools and universities.
In its 2pm weather advisory, weather bureau PAGASA warned of moderate to heavy rainfall within the next 3 hours in the following areas:
PAGASA advised local disaster risk reducation management councils to take necessary precautionary measures.
Despite the downpour, PAGASA weather forecaster Aldzar Aurelio said no major weather disturbance like typhoons are expected within the next 3 days.
