Monsoon rain over parts of Luzon

MANILA, Philippines – The southwest monsoon, commonly known as the Habagat, will continue to bring rain to parts of Luzon Friday, June 21, as tropical depression Fabian lingers in the region’s west.

Fabian was spotted 270 km northwest of Iba, Zambales (16.7°N, 117.6°E) as of 4 pm Thursday, June 20, carrying maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center as it moves north northwest at 11 km/h.

It will have no direct effect on the Philippines, the bureau said, but will enhance the monsoon.

Mimaropa, Central Luzon, and Ilocos is forecast to experience monsoon rains, state weather bureau PAGASA said in its 24-hour forecast Thursday afternoon.

The rest of the country will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms.
