Tropical storm to enter PH on Wednesday
MANILA, Philippines – A tropical storm with an international name Soulik has been spotted east of Basco, Batanes, and is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday morning.
The tropical storm was spotted 2,140 km East of Basco, Batanes (19.1˚N, 145.1˚E) as of 10:30 am Monday, July 8, state weather bureau PAGASA said in its 10 am bulletin.
PAGASA weather forecaster Jori Loiz said that if the tropical storm maintains its direction, "it will likely pass in the extreme northern Luzon," according to a report by Solar TV News.
Soulik’s maximum sustained winds is 65 kph with gustiness of 80 kph and is forecast to move west at 20 kph.
According to PAGASA, Soulik will be named Huaning once it enters the PAR. Soulik will not have any direct effect on any parts of the country within the next two days, the weather bureau added.
Soulik will enhance the southwest monsoon and will bring rains on the western part of the country by Thursday. – Rappler.com
