MANILA, Philippines – Provinces in the eastern edge of Mindanao are under public storm warning signal number 1 as a new weather system enters the country Monday, November 11.

A new tropical depression entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) early Monday, and was given the name Zoraida, state weather bureau PAGASA said in a bulletin issued 5 am.

Zoraida was spotted 950 kilometers southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center.

Storm warning signal number 1, where winds between 30-60 km/h is expected within 36 hours, has been hoisted over these areas:

Zoraida is moving northwest at a speed of 28 km/h, and is expected to be 400 km southeast of Hinatuan by Tuesday morning, November 12.

It is forecast to be in the vicinity of Tagbilaran City on Wednesday morning, November 13, and will be 170 km west of Coron, Palawan by Thursday morning, November 14.
