MANILA, Philippines – Though Typhoon Henry (international codename Matmo) is now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), certain areas in the Philippines still have to prepare for monsoon rains on Thursday, July 24.

State weather bureau PAGASA, in their July 23, 5 pm bulletin, said that Zambales, Bataan and Pangasinan can expect rains brought about by the Southwest Monsoon.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may experience occasional rains. Moderate to strong winds are also likely to prevail in Northern and Western Luzon, making sea travel in these areas risky.

The rest of the archipelago will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies bringing isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Winds in these areas will be light to moderate.

A low pressure area (LPA) was spotted at 1 pm by independent weather monitoring station Weather Phillippines 1,080 kilometers east northeast of Borongan, Samar.

Because it has been disorganized by strong winds, the LPA has little chance of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours, said Weather Philippines.
