Floods, landslides possible in Visayas on Tuesday

MANILA, Philippines – A low pressure area (LPA) spotted near Northern Samar will likely bring about bad weather that could result in flashfloods and landslides in Visayas on Tuesday, September 2.

This was the warning state weather bureau PAGASa gave in their September 1, 5 pm bulletin.

The LPA was seen at 4 pm 700 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar. The whole of Visayas will thus likely experience moderate to heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms that could trigger flashfloods and landslides.

Meanwhile, parts of Luzon and Mindanao are not spared from rains. Bicol region and Mimaropa in Luzon, Caraga, Zamboanga Peninsula and Northern Mindanao can expect light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of the archipelago should be ready for isolated rains most likely to fall in the afternoon or evening.

In the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao, moderate to occasionally strong winds will prevail leading to moderate to rough coastal waters. Elsewhere in the country, winds will be light to moderate leading to calmer seas.
