MANILA, Philippines – Tropical storm Seniang (international name Jangmi) has weakened further and is now downgraded to a tropical depression, the state weather bureau said on Wednesday, December 31.

In its 5 pm update, weather agency PAGASA said Seniang has weakened while traversing Sulu Sea, moving west southwest at 15 kilometers per hour (km/h).

The center of the tropical depression was estimated at 290 km south southwest of Cuyo, Palawan. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center.

Storm Signal Number 1 is still raised over Southern Palawan. Storm warning signals elsewhere have been lifted.

Seniang is expected to be 300 km southwest of Puerto Princesa City by Thursday afternoon.
