MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Storm Amang (international name Mekkhala) has weakened as it makes its way to Northern Luzon.

Amang’s center was spotted 35 kilometers north northwest of Daet, Camarines Norte at 4 pm on Sunday (January 18), according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

It was packing winds of 64 kilometers per hour (km/h) to 80 km/h and is likely to move north northwest at a speed of 15 km/h.

Amang now poses only a threat to parts of Luzon.

Three areas remain under public storm warning signal number 2:

  • Camarines Norte
  • Northern Quezon (including Polillo Island)
  • Aurora

Those under public storm warning signal number 1 are:

  • Camarines Sur
  • Rest of Quezon
  • Marinduque
  • Batangas
  • Cavite
  • Laguna
  • Metro Manila
  • Rizal
  • Bulacan
  • Quirino
  • Isabela

Those under public storm warning signals are advised to be alert against possible flash floods and landslides.
