Occasional rains for parts of Luzon on Sunday

MANILA, Philippines – Many parts of Luzon will experience occasional rains on Sunday, August 3, due to the southwest monsoon or habagat, according to state weather bureau PAGASA in its 5 pm weather bulletin on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the eye of typhoon Halong was spotted 1,260 kms east of central Luzon as of 4 pm on Saturday, still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

With maximum sustained winds of 160 km/h and gustiness of up to 195 km/h, it is forecast to move west northwest at 13 km/h.

Metro Manila, and the regions of Ilocos, Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Region IV-A) and Mimaropa (Region IV-B) will have occasional rains. The rest of the country would have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

In a separate 6 pm heavy rainfall warning bulletin, PAGASA raised the yellow warning level over Zambales and Bataan. Possible flooding may take place in low-lying areas, PAGASA said.

Moderate to strong winds from the southwest will prevail throughout the country. Coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
