MANILA, Philippines - Globe Telecommunications officially traces its roots back to 1935 when the California-based Robert Dollar Company incorporated in the Philippines as Globe Wireless Limited.
The Robert Dollar company was previously given the franchise to operate wireless long distance message services in the Philippines. This franchise was subsequently transferred to Globe Wireless Limited.
The company has since transformed itself over the past 7 decades to keep up with technological innovations and the changing needs of the people. Now known as Globe Telecom it is an established leader in the Philippine telecommunications industry servicing at least 25M subscribers.
Most recently, the company invested around $700-M to implement a nationwide network transformation project which promises to deliver clearer calls, on-time text messages as well as faster surfing and downloading speeds. As of December of this year, it has completed the first phase of its 4G LTE network roll-out in the Central Business District of Makati, and other areas in NCR and VISMIN.
