Police officials will not allow anyone to camp out at the public venues hours or days before the Pope's events

MANILA, Philippines – Those hoping to meet or even catch a glimpse of Pope Francis when he visits the Philippines from January 15 to 19 take note: camping out will not be allowed during his 5-day stay.

National Capital Region Police Office Chief (NCRPO) and Task Group Manila command Police Director Carmelo Valmoria said that in all the public venues in Metro Manila – the Mall of Asia, the Manila Cathedral, the University of Santo Tomas and Luneta Park – attendees will not be allowed to camp out hours or days prior to the event itself.

The restriction also applies to the routes the Pope will take. (READ: Devil in the details: Protecting Pope Francis in PH visit)

Task Group Manila is part of the Task Force Papal Visit 2015, the Philippine National Police (PNP)’s security team for the Pope’s arrival. (FAQs: Pope Francis’ trip to the Philippines)

Police will be putting up barriers a certain distance away from the main venue of the Pope’s engagements, officials earlier said. Government officials, including the PNP, are set to make a more detailed announcement on Monday, January 12, on the visit of the Pope. – Rappler.com
