MANILA, Philippines --- Ateneo de Manila University downed University of Santo Tomas, 28-26, 25-15, 25-21, to seal a second-place finish at the end of the 75th UAAP women's volleyball tournament elimination round Sunday at the jampacked FilOil Flying V Arena.

The Lady Eagles started quick in the first two sets then clawed back from a seven-point deficit in the third to post their 10th win in 14 games and cement the coveted twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four.

Alyssa Valdez scored 23 points off 18 hits, three aces and two blocks in just three sets while Fille Cainglet and rookie Marge Tejada had nine and eight markers, respectively, for Ateneo.

On the other hand, the Tigresses, who got 14 points from Judy Caballejo, fell to 8-6 and will meet National University for a playoff for the last semifinals seat this week. - Rappler.com
