MANILA, Philippines — Three-peat-seeking Ateneo de Manila University and 2012 finals victim University of Santo Tomas usher in an explosive Shakey’s V-League Season X opening day April 7 at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Eagles, who outlasted the Tigresses in three games in an epic championship series last year, hope to jumpstart their bid for a treble against a team reportedly parading veterans Rhea Dimaculangan and Aiza Maizo.

Ateneo and UST battle at 2:00pm, just after the opening ceremonies which will have International Olympic Committee honorary member Frank Elizalde as guest of honor.

The match will be followed by another interesting tussle between UAAP semifinalist National University and NCAA Final Four qualifier Arellano University in a Group B matchup.

V-League elimination round matches will be played Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from April 7 to 28 with 10 of the top collegiate teams in the country vying for honors.

Joining Ateneo and UST in Group A are De La Salle University (Dasmarinas), Letran College and San Sebastian College.

Meanwhile, with NU and Arellano in Group B are NCAA champs University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, Adamson University and University of San Carlos (Cebu). – Rappler.com
