MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) takes its bid of molding responsible student-athletes a notch higher by holding an “Athlete’s Youth Summit” during the Palarong Pambansa in Dumaguete City.

Through a memorandum, DepEd announced the special event organized by the DepEd Division of Negros Oriental and the local government unit. It is in accordance with this year’s Palaro theme, “Sports: Road to Peace and Progress.”

The summit, coined “Tikang for Peace,” targets 30 athletes per regional delegation to take part in the Athlete’s Youth Summit on the penultimate day of the week-long Palaro on April 26, at the Sofia Soller Sinco Hall of Foundation University.

The 2013 Palarong Pambansa will take place at the Governor Mariano Perdices Sports Complex in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental from April 21 to 27. Over 10,000 elementary and secondary school students from public and private schools nationwide are expected to participate.
