The National Cheerleading Champions 2012 is the biggest cheerleading event in the country.

MANILA, Philippines – The National Cheerleading Championship (NCC) is the country’s largest cheerleading event in the nation.

The annual competition started in 2006, and is the only cheerleading contest in the Philippines that uses American rules and regulations. Teams from across the country including squads from Mindanao and Visayas, strutted their moves for the judges during season 7 of the NCC held at Philsports Arena.

Cheerleading powerhouse Central Colleges of the Philippines (CCP) Bobcats took home their fourth championship title — the most for any team in the history of the competition. Far Eastern University finished 2nd, the first time they have ever placed in the tournament, while University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD) finished 3rd.

UPHSD ran away with the distinction of being the first grandslam champions in NCAA Cheerleading earlier this month. This is also their 4th time finishing 3rd in the NCC. The team won the title in 2009.

Below are photos of the college teams that competed in the national championships, shot by Josh Albelda on Sunday, March 18, 2012.
