Road to triathlon: Right bike and fit
Adjusting a triathlete’s bicycle can increase performance and conserve running muscle energy

MANILA, Philippines – Ton, Juls and Amanda get their Felt bikes dialled in with the help of professional bike fitter, Glenn Colendrino and Epic Cycles’ owner, Boy Simjuangco.

Triathlon is a scientific sport. Adjusting a triathlete’s bicycle according to personal body measurements and peddling movements can increase performance and conserve running muscle energy for the finish.

Glenn and Boy uses a Retul Bike Fit System to customise Ton, Juls, and Amanda’s bikes. Motion capture sensors are placed on the hosts’ bodies to plot measurements and movements. The idea is to isolate peddling load to the quads for the riders to conserve energy on their hamstrings.
