Gameplan: Sluggish no more
When you’re just lifting weights in the gym you get so big and sluggish

MANILA, Philippines- George Go, a crossfit enthusiast, talks about his Gameplan and why he got into Crossfit.

“ A good friend of mine actually showed me a video of a bunch of people doing some weird stuff, pulling up some weights, with great intensity, and I was like, what are these people doing? A year and a half later, look at me right now, I Crossfit probably 3-5 times a week. I tried it out, and that’s how I got into it… It’s probably the best workout I’ve been on. “ says George.

From George’s experience, here are 3 tips for newbies who just got into Crossfit:
1. It’s ok to stop during the workout.  Challenging yourself to do more is always good, but you should always know your limit and not let pride take over you. There are health risks if your body hasn’t fully adjusted to high intensity workouts.  Listening to your coach’s advice always helps.
2. Do exercises with proper pacing.  Don’t rush. You can constantly improve if you manage to do the exercises right at the proper pacing. Be sure to do your workouts regularly and you will find that you start to get better.
3. Get ready to feel great. Apart from looking great and gaining strength, a month of doing Crossfit can takeaway that “sluggish” feeling. Your functional skills (like jumping) and endurance also improves.
Compared to what he used to do, George sees the benefits of Crossfit. He says, “When you’re just lifting weights in the gym you get so big and sluggish. You might feel strong but you’re not fit, you’re not healthy, you’re moving like you’re a thousand pounds, so Crossfit immediately eliminates that because you got to move no matter what. “  And it’s not just in the workout, George says that in the Crossfit community, everyone looks out for one another’s fitness goals. – Rappler.com
