WATCH: Steph Curry scores 24 points in opening night first quarter

MANILA, Philippines – Stephen Curry has made it pretty clear he’s ready to get on with the Golden State Warriors’ NBA title defense.

The reigning MVP started off the season in electric form, scoring 24 points in the first quarter of the Warriors’ 111-95 win over the New Orleans Pelicans at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif. on Wednesday, October 28 Manila time.

Curry, who broke his own record for most 3-pointers in a season last season, opened up the first period hitting 9-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.

Curry’s opening quarter explosion was the most points in a season opener of the last 20 seasons. Curry eventually finished with 40 points, to go along with 7 assists and 6 rebounds in what Associated Press reports as his 10th career 40-point game.

Pelicans’ star Anthony Davis didn’t have as hot a night, shooting 4-of-20 from the field for 18 points. Newly acquired Pelican Kendrick Perkins scored 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting. – Rappler.com
