Kobe Paras commits to Creighton University
Filipino high school standout Kobe Paras will play for the same college which produced NBA players Kyle Korver and Doug McDermott

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino high school standout Kobe Paras will be playing college basketball at Creighton University this coming season, according to ESPN.

Paras, 19, had originally committed to join the UCLA Bruins but was forced to withdraw due to ”academic conditions of his admission not being met,” ESPN’s Jeff Borzello reported last month. Creighton University, an NCAA Division I school located in Omaha, Nebraska, has produced NBA players Benoit Benjamin, Kyle Korver and Doug McDermott.

“I would gladly want to announce that I am taking my talents to Omaha Nebraska,” Paras tweeted on Monday, July 18.

The Bluejays, as the team is called, open their season on November 4 against the Wayne State Wildcats.

The 6-foot-5 Quezon City, Philippines native played high school basketball at Cathedral High School in Los Angeles before playing for Middlebrooks Academy in his senior year.

Paras is the son of former Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) MVP Benjie Paras and has been a mainstay on the national youth team since 2013. – Rappler.com
