WATCH: Basketball shot from 593 feet high sets new record
The highest of trick shots at a Swiss dam returns a group of Australian YouTubers back into the Guinness Book of World Record

MANILA, Philippines – Shooting from such great heights.

YouTubers Brett Stanford, Derek Herron and Scott Gaunson of Australia broke the Guinness World Record for highest basketball record, sinking a shot from atop the Mauvoisin Dam in Valais, Switzerland. The shot was officially measured at 593.73 feet according to Guinness

The troupe of the YouTube channel How Ridiculous had first set the record in 2011 with a 219 foot, 5 inch shot before another set of YouTubers bettered their mark at 533 feet this year for “Greatest height from which a basketball is shot.”

“It was a surreal moment nailing it on the third shot. I watched the ball head towards the rim and saw the net move but still had my doubts that it went in until I saw Scott going crazy,” said Derek Herron, who sank the shot.

Finding locations to shoot from is one of the difficulties that come along with attempting the record. Also, if you run out of basketballs, you’ll have to run down 600 feet to retrieve balls to shoot. – Rappler.com
