MANILA, Philippines – Ryan Araña of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters never returned to finish Game 2 of their best-of-7 Finals match-up against the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers on Sunday, February 16 in the PLDT Home DSL Philippine Cup.

Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao bared after the game that Araña is “doubtful” for Game 3 after the 30-year old swingman was taken straight to the hospital while the match was still ongoing.

Araña started for Rain or Shine in Game 2 but only played for 9 minutes in the first quarter and had one block.

“I think Ryan is still doubtful. We’re still waiting for word from the hospital on his status,” Guiao said.

“Yung collar bone niya mukhang medyo nakausli kanina. In pain siya kasi nung binigyan siya ng screen ni Reavis. Pag daan sinalyahan siya, natyempuhan siya sa collar bone (left side) sa first half.” (His collar bone appeared to be protruded. He was in pain after hitting the screen set by Reavis. Reavis moved a bit and hit the left side of his collar bone.)

Araña also tweeted during the game that he was on his way to the hospital.

The 6-foot-1 cager out of De La Salle University provided quality minutes for the Painters, often serving as an energizer bunny in crucial stretches of the game as he scored points whenever they were needed.

He averaged 9.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists while playing time of 20.8 minutes  during the semifinal series against the Petron Blaze Boosters.

He chipped in 6 markers for Rain or Shine in their Game 1 victory in the Finals. But the Painters succumbed to a Game 2 loss, 80-70, as the Mixers evened out the series 1-1 on Sunday, February 16. – Rappler.com
