As Globalport exits, Brock eyes another PBA trip
It's on to the next for import Evan Brock after GlobalPort played its last game in the Commissioner's Cup

MANILA, Philippines – Evan Brock left his Globalport Batang Pier dugout in high spirits after their 98-96 win over Barako Bull on Sunday. He will finally bag a W before packing his things and leaving for abroad soon.

His final game with the Batang Pier, which came 5 days before he would turn 30 years old, is phenomenal. He scored on jumpers, power moves, and highlight alley-oop slams that got the crowd going. He finished with 27 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and two blocks – numbers people would expect out of him every single night.

His mood after the game was positive, and then he showed members of the press his baller wrapped around his left wrist to give them an idea of how they won: the baller read “Never give up.”

Just two days ago, Brock missed what could have been a game-tying free throw that would have forced an overtime against Talk ‘N Text last Friday. Instead, the ball hit the front of the rim, with the Tropang Texters securing the final rebound.

But even with a losing record, Brock – who is already in his second PBA appearance – kept playing his heart out every single night, giving his 100% everytime he’s on the floor.

And on Sunday, Brock can finally raise his arms in celebration of their first win.

He never gave up, and neither did Globalport who stuck with him until the end – something he is grateful for.

“I appreciate what (the management) did. They could have easily replaced me because of our record but I just did my part every game and they respected my efforts,” he shared.

While their campaign already done, recording just a single win in 9 elimination round meetings, the bull-strong forward is already eyeing a return trip to the PBA.

“I wish to play in the PBA (again). Any team,” he said with confidence.

The University of Alabama alum finished with averages of 26.89 points, 18.67 rebounds, 2.44 assists, 1.56 steals and 1.11 blocks, per pba-online.net, slightly better than his numbers in last year’s Commissioner’s Cup with the Energy (21.18 points, 16 rebounds, 2.36 assists, 1.55, steals, 1.36 blocks).

A former ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) champion in 2012 with the Indonesia Warriors, Brock has played all over the world – Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and the United States, to name a few. His last trip prior to this PBA return was a stint with the Bahrain Premier League.

“I play all year long. I don’t usually rest,” added Brock, who is exploring to play another country next before returning to the PBA next season.

“That’s what you do, you don’t give up. My attitude has not changed despite the losses. I stayed positive and it helped us win.”

Basketball never stops indeed, and neither does Evan Brock. – Rappler.com
