MANILA, Philippines – Kiefer Ravena has sunk many game winners in the past, most of which while wearing an Ateneo Blue Eagles jersey.

On Wednesday, November 5, Ravena did it in front of NBA legend Allen Iverson.

The UAAP MVP‘s layup with 1.3 seconds left gave his squad, Team PCWorx, a slim 98-96 victory over Team Gawad Kalinga, which was coached by NBA legend Allen Iverson, at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Ravena finished with 16 points. Jeron Teng also scored 16 while former PBA import DerMarr Johnson had 24 markers for Team PCWorx.

Team Gawad Kalinga was spearheaded by The Bone Collector and Special FX Williams, who had 20 and 18 points, respectively.

“Both teams played well,” Iverson said after the game. He also said he plans on visiting the Philippines more in the future.

A couple of consecutive baskets from Teng cut Team Gawad Kalinga’s lead to 6 prior to the end of the first half.

The La Salle star continued his hot streak to open the third quarter, converting three straight baskets to score 7 points and get Team PCWorx within one, 60-59.

The two clubs went back and forth for the rest of the third period with three deadlocks including the score heading into the fourth period, 73-all.

Team Gawad Kalinga stepped on the gas quickly to start the fourth period, using their defense to force consecutive turnovers.

Consecutive baskets from The Bone Collector and Special FX gave Iverson’s squad a 10-point advantage, 88-78, with 6:45 left to play.

Four straight points from FEU’s Mac Belo cut Gawad Kalinga’s lead to two, 93-91, with less than two minutes left in the payoff period.

Team PCWorx managed to stay close in the early moments of the game, but the it were Iverson’s boys who gained the oohs and aahs from the crowd thanks to some nifty crossover moves and other highlight-worthy plays.

At one point during the first period, the Bone Collector dribbled the basketball off the face of Teng, who couldn’t stop the Ball Up star from scoring the basket right after.

A few plays later, Teng dared the Professor to shoot over him, but the latter used a string of ankle breakers to get open for a layup.

The Professor also tried the same antics on Ravena, but the UAAP MVP managed to stand his ground and force his opponent into a tough jumper.

Nevertheless, The Professor was on fire for the rest of the opening quarter, making a number of jumpers to score 10 points after 10 minutes of play and give his team a 28-16 lead.
