Curry scores 40 as Warriors blow out Rockets for 3-0 series lead

MANILA, Philippines – Steph Curry caught fire once more as the Golden State Warriors moved one win away from the Finals with a 115-80 blowout of the Houston Rockets in Game 3 of the NBA 2015 Western Conference Finals Sunday, May 24 (Saturday, May 23 in the US) at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Curry, dominant as well through Games 1 and 2, took over for his team with 40 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and two steals. This season’s league MVP shot 7-of-9 from beyond the arc and with his aggression dropped 37 of his points in the first 3 quarters. 

“It’s a great way to start our road trip,” said Curry during the post-game broadcast interview.

Four other Warriors scored in double figures, including Klay Thompson who had 17 points and 5 assists. 

Draymond Green also had 17 on top of 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Big man Andrew Bogut, who along with Thompson helped set the pace of the game from the start, posted 12 points and 12 rebounds. 

Festus Ezeli chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds off the bench. 

Nobody from Houston scored more than 20 with runner-up MVP James Harden topscoring with 17 points in a frustrating 3-of-16 shooting night.

Josh Smith had 16 points and 8 rebounds while center Dwight Howard finished with 14 markers and 14 boards.

The Warriors did not score under 30 points for the first 36 minutes, leading by 92-62 entering the final frame. The final tally was their biggest lead of the ball game.

It is the first time this season the Rockets lost 3 games in a row. No team has ever come back to win a series after trailing 3-0 in the NBA. – Rappler.com
