LOOK: Jordan Clarkson meets with SBP Chairman MVP

MANILA, Philippines – While visiting the Philippines over the past weekend as part of the NBA Cares program, Fil-Am Los Angeles Lakers rookie Jordan Clarkson took to visit and pose for a picture with Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan on Sunday, May 24. 

Clarkson is currently in the Philippines – the homeland of his mother Annette’s side – along with Jazz guard Trey Burke and 4-time NBA Champion Horace Grant who joined the NBA All-Rookie Team member in two NBA viewing events and for a basketball clinic they conducted at a covered court in Maginoo Street, Tondo, Manila.

Pangilinan is the main patron of Gilas Pilipinas, the men’s national basketball team that represents the country in international tournaments like the Asian Games and FIBA tournaments. Clarkson has expressed his interest in the past about playing for Gilas and recently discussed his willingness to help the program to any extent he can.

Clarkson is seen wearing a jacket with Philippine colors. While talking to members of the media on Saturday, May 23, Clarkson proudly talked about his Filipino heritage and said it’s the reason why he plays basketball. – Rappler.com
