The Fil-Tongan center joined the Gilas Pilipinas pool, whose frontline has been whittled down to Sonny Thoss and Asi Taulava

MANILA, Philippines – Gilas Pilipinas’ thinning frontline is gaining a much-needed boost with the addition of consensus 2015 PBA Draft top pick Moala Tautuaa.

The Fil-Tongan center joined the national team’s training last Thursday, August 13 as naturalized center Andray Blatche recovers from prostatitis, or an infection of the prostate.

Gilas big men have also dwindled with the absence of June Mar Fajardo (begged off due to injury), Kelly Williams (MCL injury), Marc Pingris (begged off) and the still injured Ranidel de Ocampo (hamstring). (READ: De Ocampo to join Gilas in Estonia)

The 6-foot-7 Tautuaa will be joining the team when they travel to Estonia on Monday, August 17 for a week-long training camp and pocket tournament.
