WATCH: Jordan Clarkson practices with Gilas Pilipinas for first time
The Filipino-American Lakers guard wore number 6 as he participated in light drills with the Gilas Pilipinas squad for the first time

MANILA, Philippines — Filipino-American Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson dipped his toes in Philippine basketball as he briefly joined national team Gilas Pilipinas in their evening training session on Wednesday, August 26 at the Meralco Gym.

Clarkson, 23, participated in some drills but spent plenty of time on the sidelines as well speaking with fellow Gilas pool member Gabe Norwood and assistant coach Norman Black. He did not participate in the scrimmage.

Clarkson, who arrived in Manila on Monday, August 24, was originally announced to only “observe” Gilas training but ended up building up a sweat Wednesday night.

His eligibility to play for the Philippines in the upcoming 2015 FIBA Asia Championship is still awaiting approval from the International Basketball Federation.

Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas already submitted the necessary requirements to FIBA. Clarkson, who was wearing a number 6 Pilipinas practice jersey during training, was named to the 24-man pool submitted to FIBA.
