2016 PBA All-Star starters revealed

MANILA, Philippines – Veteran and rising stars Mark Caguioa, James Yap, Scottie Thompson, and Terrence Romeo headline the starters for the 2016 PBA All-Star Game.

Barangay Ginebra has the most players in the All-Star starting lineups with 5. The starters were determined solely by fan votes, according to the league.

The Gin Kings’ Caguioa and Globalport’s Romeo are part of the North team, which also includes Calvin Abueva (Alaska), Marc Pingris (Star), and Japeth Aguilar (Barangay Ginebra).

While Star’s Yap and Barangay Ginebra’s Thompson are with June Mar Fajardo (San Miguel Beer), Greg Slaughter (Barangay Ginebra), and Joe Devance (Barangay Ginebra) make up the South team.

Yeng Guiao, who last won a title with Rain or Shine in the previous Commissioner’s Cup, will coach the North, while Leo Austria, who led San Miguel Beer to this season’s Philippine Cup championship, will handle the South team.

Caguioa, 36, is back for his 10th All-Star Game, while Romeo is expected to put on another show after winning last year’s All-Star MVP and Three-point Shootout plums.

Thompson makes the All-Star lineup as a rookie, while Yap is coming into his 13th All-Star Game.

The PBA All-Star Weekend will take place from August 4 to 7 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum with the All-Star Game happening on August 7.
