Ginebra third quarter surge propels them past NLEX

MANILA, Philippines – Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is building momentum with their third straight win, defeating the NLEX Road Warriors, 101-92, in the 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Wednesday, April 19, at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Joe Devance and Justin Brownlee led the way with 18 points apiece, with the import adding 13 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals.

Japeth Aguilar registered 17 markers and 5 boards while LA Tenorio collected 13 points and dished out 5 assists for the now 3-1 Ginebra.

After a lackluster first half that frustrated coach Tim Cone, the Gin Kings rebounded and knocked the wind out of the Road Warriors in a blistering 42-14 rally that shut NLEX out for good.

Ginebra built leads of up to 29 points and they never let up in the final frame.

Wayne Chism produced 16 points with 8 rebounds but he had little help from NLEX’s locals with Rabeh Al-Hussaini and Eric Camson scoring 14 and 11 points, respectively.

NLEX is still the only winless team in the conference with a 0-7 record.
