WATCH: The brawl that triggered the Jeron Teng stabbing incident
The Alaska Aces rookie sustains 3 stab wounds on the back after the suspects attacked him with a ring knife

MANILA, Philippines – Jeron Teng is expected to miss time in the PBA as he recovers from 3 stab wounds sustained from a brawl early morning Sunday, June 3, outside the Early Night Club at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

Teng’s older brother and PBA player, Jeric, said the former UAAP star along with his former La Salle teammates Thomas Torres and Norbert Torres were just picked on, which led to a brawl that triggered the stabbing incident. (READ: Jeron Teng, 2 ex-La Salle players stabbed in BGC

In a video posted by La Salle supporter Archer Pride.com (APcom) FB Page on Facebook, the former Green Archer is seen engaging in a fist fight with the two suspects identified as Edmar Lacanlale and Willard Basili.

Before the brawl began, one of the suspects shouted at Teng, “You don’t f***ing know me. Who are you?” until they were separated by security personnel and Teng’s girlfriend, Jeanine Tsoi.

However, as Teng flashed a middle finger, the suspects attacked the Alaska Aces rookie.

Teng, along with Thomas Torres, peppered both of the suspects’ heads with punches. As security got between the two parties, the video shows Teng’s back already bleeding and Torres checking the wound on his hand.

Police reported the suspects used a ring knife in the altercation.

Lacanlae and Masili were arrested by Taguig City Police while both Teng and Thomas Torres underwent operations at the St. Luke’s Medical Center. (READ: Jeron Teng operated on twice, family to file frustrated homicide charges)

Rain or Shine player and former La Salle big man Norbert Torres also sustained injuries on his left arm that needed 11 stitches.

NCRPO chief Guillermo Eleazar said criminal cases of frustrated homicide and serious physical injuries will be filed against the two suspects.

The PBA, in an official statement posted on its website, offered prayers for the 3 cagers.

“The players are confined and are recuperating at a hospital in Taguig,” the statement said. “Let us all pray for their speedy recovery.” – Rappler.com
