PBA D-League: Cagayan Valley, Cafe France, Hapee pick up wins
The Hapee Fresh Fighters, Cagayan Valley Rising Suns, and Cafe France all picked up wins in the Aspirants Cup of the PBA D-League

MANILA, Philippines – The Hapee Fresh Fighters, Cagayan Valley Rising Suns, and Cafe France all picked up wins in the Aspirants Cup of the PBA D-League on Thursday, November 6, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

In the first game, Cagayan Valley defeated the BreadStory-Lyceum Smashing Bakers, 97-94, thanks to the clutch free throws of Alex Austria.

Led by the superb play of Michael Mabulac, who finished with 24 points, the Rising Suns built a lead that extended up to 20 before Joseph Gabayni and UST Growling Tigers swingman Louie Vigil went on a tear late in the game to cut the lead down to three, 94-91.

Austria, who finished with 13 points, then hit a couple of critical charities with less than 25 seconds to go, paving the way for the win.

Jason Melano also had 19 markers for Cagayan Valley, while Gabayni put up 27 for BreadStory-Lyceum. Vigil finished with 15.

In the second contest, Cafe France was able to weather the second half surge of Racal Motors to come away with a 67-56 win.

Jonar Huertas led the winning side with 12 points, while Mon Abundo and Mavericks Ahanmisi combined for 22.

Jamil Ortuoste led Racal Motors, who were held scoreless in the last four minutes of the game, with 15 points.

In the main event, Hapee got off to a quick start and never looked back in their 73-53 blowout win against Tanduay Light.

Garvo Lanete scored 5 of the game’s first 7 points and finished with a total of 16, topscoring for the game, while Ola Adeogun and Ray Parks put up 13 and 12, respectively.
