Abel Galliguez scored all 16 of his points in the fourth quarter to lead the Cagayan Valley Rising Suns to a 75-70 victory over AMA University Titans in their first game of the 2015 PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena on Thursday, March 19.

Galliguez converted a critical 3-pointer and drew a foul that led to a made free throw early in the fourth period that awarded his team a 10-point breathing room, 61-51.

AMA University countered with a 17-11 spurt that trimmed their opponents’ lead to four, but a 3-ball by Galliguez just before the final two-minute mark of the contest iced the win for his club, who played their first game without top overall pick Moala Tautuaa.

Adrian Celada pitched in 12 markers and 7 boards while Michael Mabulac contributed 11 markers for the winning tea,.

Corpuz scores 26 in Gems’ demolition of MP Hotel

The Cebuana-Lhuillier Gems scored the third most points by a team in PBA D-League history with a 118-78 obliteration of the MP Hotel Warriors.

Five Cebuana players scored in double-figures led by Jackson Corpuz, who finished with 26 points. DLSU alumni Norbert Torres and Almond Vosotros each put up 15 markers, while Tautuaa scored 11 in his second game with the club, who’s now 2-0.

The Gems led by as much as 42 points in the game, which saw Cebuana ahead by 27, 30-13, following 12 minutes of play. Everything went right for the team from there on out, leading to an easy win.

Jopher Custodio led MP Hotel with 17 points while Jan Colina and Rey Nambatac each put up 12 points for the Warriors, who shot an impressive 48% from the floor but allowed their opponents to convert 58% of their attempts.

The Gems attained easy scoring opportunities through stronger hustle with 22 points off turnovers, 20 from second chance points, and 22 markers through fast breaks.

KeraMix rolls past Liver Marin

The KeraMix Mixers continued to roll in their debut PBA D-League conference, defeating the Liver Marin Guardians, 89-71, to improve to 2-0 and hand their head coach Caloy Garcia a victory on his birthday.

Luis Sinco and Jeff Viernes each put up 12 points, while Jiovani Jalalon wasn’t far behind with 9 markers.

Jamil Ortuoste led the losing side with 18 points.

The Mixers raced off to a quick start after the first quarter, going ahead by 15, 28-13. But a bounce-back second period from the Guardians had the deficit down to 6, 45-39, at intermission.

In the third period, Liver Marin’s offense went haywire as the team managed only 9 points. KeraMix used that opening to build a 17-point cushion to cruise to the easy win.
