Ginebra sends Ababou, Forrester to Barako Bull for draft pick

MANILA, Philippines – The personnel change continues for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

A day after reports surfaced that the franchise changed head coaches, it was confirmed via the PBA’s official website that the Gin Kings have traded seldom-used Dylan Ababou and James Forrester for Barako Bull Energy’s first round pick in the 2015 PBA Draft.

Both Ababou and Forrester suffered knee injuries while with Ginebra, leading to their limited playing time with the team. Ababou played in only five games for Ginebra in the Commissioner’s Cup, while Forrester saw action for Ginebra only 17 times after they took him fourth overall in the 2013 PBA Draft.

Both players will have a better shot at playing time with Barako Bull, who was just recently eliminated by the Talk ’N Text Tropang Texters in the quarterfinals.

“They will give us outside arsenal and the stability on the defensive end. I know Dylan and James very well because they both played for me,” Barako Bull head coach Koy Banal said to the PBA’s official website.

“I will still go for the experience, the tried and tested, rather than the inexperience,” he added.

This won’t be Ababou’s first crack with Barako Bull, as he played for a conference with the team in his rookie campaign. In his career, the former UAAP MVP is averaging 5.3 points and 2.1 rebounds a game. – Rappler.com
