MANILA, Philippines – Check, please!

Former heavyweight champ Shannon Briggs has made it very clear that he wants a shot at undisputed champion Wladimir Klitschko and isn’t ashamed to cross the threshold of poor taste to get it.

A video posted by boxing website FightNews on Friday, August 1 shows the 42-year-old contender Briggs tracking down the Ukrainian-born Klitschko to Mamma Mia’s Italian restaurant in Hollywood, Fla.

The uninvited guest proceeded to grab a fork and eat Klitschko’s food from his plate. The insulted champion kept his cool however, asking Briggs if he would like some water, pouring a glass of water from a bottle on the table and dumping it on Briggs’ head.

Briggs then takes the stunt one step further, knocking all the contents off the table before being restrained and physically ejected from the restaurant. The website reports that Briggs was cut by broken glass and had to receive stitches.

Klitschko (62-3, 52 knockouts) is in South Florida preparing for a September 6 showdown with unbeaten contender Kubrat Pulev (20-0, 11 KOs) at the O2 World Arena in Hamburg, Germany. The fight will be the 17th defense of the title he has held since 2006.

Briggs (55-6-1, 48 KOs), a New York native who now lives in South Florida, had brief title reigns in 1997 and 2006 and has defeated four unheralded opponents in 2014 since returning from a four-year absence after losing a one-sided bout to Wladimir’s older brother Vitali Klitschko in 2010.

This incident comes on the heels of another confrontation between the two earlier this week when Briggs tracked Klitschko down at a gym and attempted to intimidate the 1996 Olympic gold medalist before being restrained by Klitschko’s trainers, former heavyweight champion Michael Moorer and one-time contender Johnathan Banks.

Not exactly in good taste but Briggs is probably happy that the masses are talking about him again. – Rappler.com
