MANILA, Philippines – Green Archers United’s four-game winning streak was put to an abrupt stop on Tuesday, April 1, as Pachanga-Diliman PLDT Home Fibr FC held them to a scoreless draw in the 2014 United Football League at the Emperador Stadium in Taguig City.

After finding the back of the net in all their games in March, the Archers were contained in the offensive end tonight with Robert Lopez Mendy missing plenty of times and Christian Pasilan not getting his runs rewarded.

Pachanga, however, was as unproductive as well as they failed to complete an upset of the hot GAU side in a match that ended with both teams scoreless.

Patrick Deyto continues to solidify his name among the country’s top goalkeepers as he once again kept GAU in the game, foiling numerous attempts from Azakls teammate Nate Burkey and Iranian scoring machine Shayan Jafari.

With both sides firing shot after shot in the first half, the Ivorian Lopez Mendy came close to opening the scoring as he launched one in the 42nd minute but his shot grazed agonizingly close above the crossbar that kept the game level at the break.

After an impressive UAAP Season 76 showing, Jesus Melliza checked into the game early in the second half and pestered the opposition’s flanks but Pachanga held their own in defense and kept GAU scoreless until the final whistle.

Despite the draw, coach Rodolfo Alicante’s boys remain in the upper half of the table at fifth place with 20 points, just three points behind the defending champions Stallion FC.

Meanwhile, Pachanga rose to sixth with 14 points, overtaking Philippine Army via goal difference.

Pachanga returns to action on April 5 against Team Socceroo while the Archers, who are still without the talismanic Chieffy Caligdong due to a foot injury, face Loyola Meralco next on April 8. – Rappler.com
