WATCH: A prologue to the Philippine Wrestling Revolution
Philippine Wrestling Revolution, the country's only pro wrestling company, will open a new chapter at PWR Live with a title rematch and a tournament to crown the first Hybrid X champion

MANILA, Philippines – Professional wrestling takes its share of knocks, but the athleticism, showmanship and danger are all too real. When the performers of the Philippine Wrestling Revolution step inside the ring, they put their bodies on the line.

PWR opens a new chapter with PWR Live on Saturday, August 15 at Makati Cinema Square. The event, the company’s fifth, will be headlined by the title rematch between PWR champion “Classical” Bryan Leo and “The Senyorito” Jake De Leon.

PWR Live will also feature the beginning of the 8-man tournament to crown the first Hybrid X champion.

At PWR’s Wrevolution X in May, De Leon became the first PWR champion when he defeated Bombay Suarez. Leo, who was awarded a title opportunity to cash in at his convenience by PWR Commissioner Mr. Sy earlier in the night, had the last laugh, taking advantage and snatching away the title moments later.

“Whether anyone likes it or not, I will do what I have to do to walk out with this,” says Leo. “Walking in with this,” he said, pointing to the title belt. “I promise you I’m walking out with this, too.”

“I tried my best, I tried to fight back but he stole the belt from me,” says De Leon, who gets his shot at revenge this weekend.

“You’re not gonna win. I’m going to take back my championship.”

Round one of the Hybrid X tournament will feature Mayhem Brannigan facing Miguel Rosales of Fighters 4 Hire, while Rosales’ tag partner Joey Bax squares off with “The Human Trending Topic” Ken Warren.

Also on tap, Chris Panzer faces SANDATA; Ralph Imabayashi faces Peter Versoza of Dual Shock; Mark D. Manalo of Beer Promdi will face a fresh graduate from the PWR Bootcamp; and Bombay Suarez meets Royal Flush member John Sebastian.

Tickets are available at the Makati Square Arena for Php 250 ($5.74). Doors open at 5 pm, while first bell rings at 6 pm. – Rappler.com
