Filipino-American NFL star Doug Baldwin makes record books

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino-American National Football League (NFL) star Doug Baldwin made the league’s record books after a string of impressive performances during his team’s 30-13 win against the Cleveland Browns on Monday, December 21. 

Baldwin, a 27-year-old wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks, received 4 catches from Seattle Quarterback Russell Wilson for a total of 45 yards and two touchdowns.

It was the 4th straight game where Baldwin caught at least two touchdowns. He became just the 3rd player in the NFL’s Super Bowl era (1966) to do so, joining Calvin Johnson (2011) and Cris Carter (1995), per ESPN.

On Monday, Baldwin also joined NFL legend Jerry Rice (1987) as the only wide receivers who have caught 10 touchdowns within a 4-game span, per the NFL.

Furthermore, Baldwin made Seahawks history against the Browns. Early in the game, a 3-yard touchdown reception by Baldwin from Wilson upped his total to 12 TDs in the 2015 NFL season, tying him with Steve Largent and Joey Galloway for the second-most touchdown catches in a single Seattle season.

Then in the 2nd quarter, Baldwin caught a TD from Wilson on a 6-yard pass, capping an 8-play, 57-yard drive that put their team up 14-7.

That touchdown – Baldwin’s 13th of the season – ties him with Daryl Turner (1985) for most by a Seahawks player in a season.

With Seattle – now 9-5 and 2nd in the AFC West – still having two games remaining on its regular season schedule, there’s a good chance Baldwin will put his name atop the team’s record books. – Rappler.com
