PWR’s Wrevolution X is for all the marbles
Philippine Wrestling Revolution holds its biggest card of the year, which is headlined by a PWR championship triple threat match

MANILA, Philippines – Wrestling companies worldwide hold one grand show per year to celebrate and culminate the 365 days of each wrestler’s hard work inside the squared-circle.

World Wrestling Entertainment has its once-a-year spectacle known as “WrestleMania,” which is held between mid-March to early April. The now-defunct World Championship Wrestling had its flagship affair “Starrcade” during the last quarter of the year, while Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling hosts “Bound For Glory” every October.

In Asia, New Japan Pro Wrestling stages a traditional January 4 show at the 55,000-capacity Tokyo Dome to spearhead “Wrestle Kingdom.”

On May Saturday, 28, Philippine Wrestling Revolution (PWR) is set to hold the second installment of its biggest card of the year dubbed “Wrevolution X” at the iAcademy Auditorium in Makati City.

The 8-match event is headlined by a triple threat match for the PWR championship as “Classical” Bryan Leo defends his strap against “The Senyorito” Jake De Leon and Filipino-Japanese sensation Ralph Imabayashi.

De Leon, who became the inaugural PWR champion at last year’s Wrevolution X, cemented his status as the No.1 contender for Leo’s prized possession by winning the “Path of Gold” showcase at December’s PWR Terminus, but Imabayashi would not allow the acrobatic haciendero to go alone in a championship clash against the brash disciple from a first-world country.

Imabayashi had business to settle with Leo after losing the PWR’s top prize at PWR Vendetta this past February, which led to an impassioned friction with De Leon as both men butted heads in their respective aspirations to be champion again.

In the co-featured attraction, Chris Panzer takes on “The Cutthroat” John Sebastian, with the careers of Mr Sy and celebrity KC Montero hanging on the balance.

Mr Sy’s job as PWR general manager is in the hands of Panzer. If the crowd-favorite Filipino-American wrestler yields to Sebastian at Wrevolution X, the company’s authority figure has to resign.

Meanwhile, if Panzer gets the best of Sebastian, Montero will be forced to leave “The GOAT,” FOX Sports’ news-magazine weekly program.

In other matches, Bombay Suarez squares off with Peter Versoza in a first blood match, where in order to win a competitor has to make his opponent bleed.

“Social Media Sinister” Ken Warren returns to action versus his former henchman Miguel Rosales of Fighters 4 Hire, while Kanto Terror battles The Apocalypse in an all-out war.

Also featured at Wrevolution X is an 8-wrestler gauntlet, where Crystal, Chino Guinto, SANDATA, Yohann Ollores, Trabajador Uno, VINTENDO, Joey Bax and Mark D Manalo will slug it out for a shot at Main Maxx’s PHX championship title later that night.

Tickets to PWR’s Wrevolution X are available at Cubao Expo’s The Appraisery in Quezon City, PlayBook Video Game Lounge and Bookshop in Parañaque City, and Wingman at the Collective in Makati City until Friday, May 27 for P400 ($8.55 USD). Tickets will also be on sale at the iAcademy Auditorium. – Rappler.com
