Lesnar on MMA future: ‘Brock Lesnar does what Brock Lesnar wants to do’
Brock Lesnar is keeping an open mind about fighting in the UFC again after his dominant win over Mark Hunt

MANILA, Philippines – Brock Lesnar isn’t closing the door on his mixed martial arts career just yet.

The 38-year-old native of Webster, South Dakota made a triumphant return to the Octagon as he outclassed number 8-rated heavyweight Mark Hunt in the co-headliner of UFC 200 on Saturday, July 9 (Sunday Manila time), winning a unanimous decision of 29-27 on all 3 scorecards.

The fight was not the most aesthetically pleasing display, but his size, power and wrestling were more than enough to get the job done against Hunt.

“You can write what you want to write, but I think I’m the toughest son of a bitch. It puts me right in the game. Granted, I’ve got some work to do, but don’t we all,” Lesnar said during the post-event press conference

Lesnar will head back to the professional wrestling scene in August as he faces Randy Orton at the World Wrestling Entertainment’s SummerSlam event, but he is not closing the doors on a potential UFC fight down the road.

“Brock Lesnar does what Brock Lesnar wants to do. I believe that my future is already laid out for the next month,” he stated,

Lesnar’s 3-round heavyweight encounter with Hunt has been billed as a “one-off” deal by WWE, but the exact terms of his deal remain a mystery.

“Once the dust settles there, I don’t know what I’m going to do,” Lesnar said. “I had one hell of a time tonight, and I enjoyed myself, so we’ll see what happens.”

Lesnar not rocked by Hunt’s power

Lesnar did not leave the Octagon unscathed as his eye was red and swollen, but he proved that he had the ability to take a punch from a knockout artist like Hunt.

“No, I wasn’t rocked. I don’t know if they were his best shots or not. I felt them. The mystery is gone. I guess I can take a shot. I just stuck to the game plan. I’ve been out of the game for 5 years, people. He never knocked the fuck out of me. Here I am. I’m happy,” he said.

Lesnar made full use of his ground-and-pound, and nearly earned a stoppage victory on a couple of occasions.

“I wanted to finish the fight, but the guy got a coconut head. My ground-and-pound, I’m sure he’s gonna feel it tomorrow as sure as I’m gonna feel his punch tomorrow,” he asserted.

“He is a tough son of a bitch. He took a lot of good shots from me and I took some from him. Would I like to end the fight? Absolutely, but I won,” Lesnar added.

Lesnar refused to speculate if WWE head honcho Vince McMahon will allow him to compete once more inside the UFC cage, but he believes that it is not the end of his professional MMA run.

“I believe any man can do whatever he wants if he puts his mind to it. I’ve been out of the game for 5 years and trained for 6 weeks. I think I put a good beating on Mark Hunt tonight. I think anything’s possible,” he said. – Rappler.com
