Mark Striegl aims to join ONE Championship’s Manila card in December
Although ONE Championship has yet to announce bouts for its ninth venture on Philippine shores, Striegl is throwing his name into the mix

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino-American fighter Mark Striegl is more than willing to have his comeback bout in ONE Championship’s upcoming event in the Philippines on December 2.

Striegl has been out of action since December 2015 when he suffered a painful third-round submission loss at the hands of Filipino-Australian stalwart Reece McLaren.

The 28-year-old from Baguio City was supposed to make his return to the ONE Championship cage earlier this year, but his layoff was extended after he got bronchitis.

Striegl stressed that he has fully recovered from his illness and is now waiting for a call from ONE Championship.

“I’m back to 100% now and ready to go. As soon as I get the call, I’m good to go. I’m ready to rock. I’m ready to come back and represent the Philippines,” he said.

Although ONE Championship has yet to announce bouts for its ninth venture on Philippine shores, Striegl is throwing his name into the mix.

“I want to fight on the Manila card. It’s a no-brainer,” he quipped.

Striegl made his promotional debut under the ONE banner in April 2015 by submitting Casey Suire via first-round rear-naked choke.

The 5-foot-8 “Mugen” established himself as one of the top Filipino mixed martial arts competitors with stellar stints in different promotions across the Asian region such as Pacific Xtreme Combat, Legend FC, and Ultimate Reality Combat Championship, to name a few.

He also holds an impressive prizefighting record of 14-2, with 12 wins coming by submission.

If Striegl will have his way on December 2, he would like to lock horns with McLaren once again.

“I would like to have a rematch with Reece. Hopefully, [it happens] in Manila. I hope our paths cross again.” – Rappler.com
